Tamagotchi Plus Color

Hi everyone! It's been so long since I last submitted a blog post. So much has changed in my life since the first time I wrote here, but I still like Tamagotchis. I wish I had more time to take care of them but I'm always so busy with my job and life in general.

I'm having a few weeks off from work and I'm enjoying the Christmas holidays. I also have enough time to take care of Tamagotchis. I'm currently running 4 tamas: Santaclautchi, Osutchi, Mesutchi and the Tamagotchi + Color. I started the latter a few days ago and I found Gorripathci...it's actually the same one I had blogged about years ago. She's been paused since then! I'm enjoying taking care of her. Now I just noticed something really interesting; when I try to use the door icon, it's won't let me leave the house. I thought this might be a glitch until I went outside and Gorripatchi seemed worried. Suddenly there was thunder and it scared Gorripatchi. So I can't use the door icon because there's currently a thunderstorm. It makes sense and I think it's such a nice touch. Makes it very realistic. Here's what the thunder looks like:

OM21: Tamagotchi Nano Review

REVIEW: Tamagotchi Nanao
Release date: October 31, 2010

A slightly newer Tamagotchi toy from Japan, the Tamagotchi Nano serves as a big update for the Tamagotchi Mini (aka Tamagotchi Chibi). Chances are if you have the Mini, you'll want to pick this up. I got mine from my blog partner Jesmond. Thank you again!

The shell shape is more identical to the Tamago-Chu toys instead of the Mini: the screen is very deep and thick, magnetizing the pixels beneath. The shell's border is more of a tear-drop shape instead of the traditional "cracked egg" design. The back of the shell has a "pop-out" sort of back that the Tamago-Chu had, and the copyright information is surrounded in a "cracked-egg" boarder. It comes with a small keychain on top, allowing it to be latched on to the Tamagotchi ID, as well as cell phones or other places.

Like the mini, it has a simplified growth pattern: you start off with an egg that hatches into a baby, and within 24 hours, it will evolve into an adult, depending on your care. Unlike the mini, however, characters are now determined by the gender of the baby. You start off with either Pachikutchi or Pichikutchi, two babies native to the Tamagotchi iD (who can be seen here). From there, the boy can become either Mametchi (best care), Kuchipatchi (average care) or Kikitchi (worst care). The female may become either Lovelitchi (best care), Chamametchi (average care) or Memetchi (worst care). Two secret characters, Spaceytchi and Meloditchi, also exist. Apparently, Meloditchi is obtained through playing the Nano's game 40 times before the baby evolves, while Spaceytchi is obtained through feeding the Nano only snacks until it evolves. I have not managed to get either yet, but Tarokaja of Tama-Zone has, and he has been more than happy to share photos.

Like the Mini, the Nano includes no screen icons. Unlike the Mini, the Nano includes a game function. The object is very much similar to the V3's "Get" game, moving a basket under objects to catch them. In the Nano's game, you have to catch the word "TAMAGOTCHI" twice, meaning catch 20 letters in a specific order. Random letters fall from the top, and the right side of the screen shows what letter you have to catch. Miss the letter when it appears or catch the wrong letter, and the game is over.

So unlike the Mini, the A button always has a function. Pressing it will take you to a menu. The top selection is "FEED" and the bottom is "GAME". The food selection takes you to the typical MEAL and SNACK options, and C brings you back to the previous screen. Playing games in place of feeding snacks is counted as being better for your Tamagotchi, thus earning you a healthier character. You can also use the A button to wipe away waste when your Tamagotchi goes to the bathroom, and turn off the lights when your Tamagotchi goes to sleep. The B button will bring up the clock screen. The C button has two functions. If your Tamagotchi needs something, pressing C will make it do a particular animation to tell you what's wrong. If your Tamagotchi needs nothing, it will simply come up to the screen and wave at you.

Currently, there's no information regarding a United States or worldwide release, so for the time being, go ahead and pick one up off eBay! If you're the kind of person who wants to care for a Tamagotchi but you're too busy with daily life to care for one of the bigger, more sophisticated toys, this one's for you. It has a cute little game to keep you entertained, and plenty of adorable characters. I definitely recommend it. There are also several brand new shell designs being released, so there are plenty of colors to choose from!

OM21: A reminder about Tama-Go Gotchi Figures

I may have messed up in my previous post about Gotchi Figures, so let me clear up some confusion.

There are two types of Gotchi Figures:

  • Type A : (seen above) These are the ones that come with the Tamatown Tama-Go when you first purchase it. They only include one game; they do not unlock any new foods or items, and you don't see the character while you play.
  • Tybe B: These are the ones sold separately. They include not just a new game, but also foods and possibly items. If you connect one of these to your Tama-Go and go to Tamatown.com, special features are unlocked.
Currently, three Type A figures exist: Mametchi, Memetchi, and Kuchipatchi. But these three characters are also available as Type B figures. To tell the difference, Type A will have a clear base, while Type B will have a colored one. Also, the poses for the character on top will be slightly altered.

In this image, Type A is the first row, and Type B is the second. What startles me is Kuchipatchi; the only difference in his pose is that Type A just has him squinting...

I hope that clears up any confusion. :)

OM21: Binary's Tama-Go Experiment!

So Binary of Tama-Zone was running some experiments on his Tamatown Tama-Go, and came up with some interesting findings!

It's possible to raise an Umino Tamagotchi (Japanese version of a Tamagotchi Ocean) from hatch to adulthood without ever feeding it a meal.

So far I haven't fed any food (meal nor snack) to my Tama-Go Gen 4 character, at any growth stage. Hungry hearts have always been empty. Happy and Friendship hearts were filled by playing the built in games.

Because I never fed him, he acquired many care misses during each growth stage.

The findings were the following:

Hungry / Happy hearts:
If you don't raise a Hungry or Happy heart when your Tamagotchi calls for it (meaning zero hearts), it will feed itself after the icon vanishes. For Hungry, it will select a random meal from your selection of food. For Happy hearts, it'll pick a random snack food.
Friendship level:
If you let the friendship hearts drop to zero, but don't raise them quickly enough, the Tamagotchi's "death" screen appears: they show up with a big bag and prepare to walk out the door.
It looks like there's a lot more to the Tama-Go than previously thought...!

OM21: And more Tama-Go information!

First, I would like to mention that I have recently spotted the new Tamatown Tama-Go! It was at a Toys-R-Us store in Buffalo, NY, and in a Walmart in Coral Springs, FL. Unfortunately, I did not buy one on either occasion, because I am a poor college student that has no spare money. :( But I will soon, hopefully, get my hands on one! Also, the packaging seems a lot smaller than I assumed it was...weird how pictures do that.

Also, the Tama-Go will be in New Zealand soon, for those of you in the Oceania and Asian regions, keep an eye out! Keep in mind, too, that the Tamagotchi has a different name; it will be called Tamagotchi Connection Version 7.

http://planetfun.co.nz/toys/product.asp?pid=262

Gotchi Figures!

So as it turns out, some of the Gotchi Figures have a special function: items!

First, when you plug in the Figure, a box appears in the background of the screen. When Mametchi's figure is in, it's a toy chest; when Memetchi's figure is in, it's a wardrobe. Something different for every character.

Once it's there, you can use the Tama-Go Figure icon to access the shop to buy the items. The shop will only have a maximum of four figures at any given time.

After you buy the items, you can play with them!

I honestly don't know if you keep the items after the Figure's taken out, or if they're only available when it's plugged in. If you own a Tama-Go, please post a comment and verify!

Again, with much thanks to Ra of Tama-Zone for the wonderful images! Check out his Tama-Go logs for even more pictures!

OM21: Lots of Tamatown Tama-Go Info!

So it's been an exciting few weeks over at Tama-Zone. Ra, a moderator, and Binary, an admin, were both sent the new Tamagotchi directly from Bandai, and have both been keeping logs of them. There's a whole lot of fun new features on the Tamatown Tama-Go, and it's certainly shaping up to be interesting for both old and new fans...

Toilet Training
A feature fans have begged for finally arrives! Through the Tamagotchi's life, they will need to be punished or praised, which brings up their "Training" meter. Though now, if you catch your Tamagotchi about to use the bathroom, selecting the "Toilet" icon right before will increase training too. Once your Tamagotchi makes it to adulthood, they'll be able to go to the bathroom all by themselves!

Overfeeding
A rather humorous nod to the Mesutchi and Osutchi, as well as the Family pets (V5, Celebrity, Royal). Ra describes it as such:

Another interesting thing is, I decided to try and see what would happen if I maxed out her weight. Her weight was already pretty high, so I kept feeding her snacks to bring it up. A really funny thing happened as soon as it reached 99! She started shaking, and suddenly bloated up! Then she just sat in the middle of the room with her enormous belly, drooling out the corner of her mouth, and refused to do anything!

I was starting to get a little nervous, as I didn't know how I was supposed to get her weight down. She wouldn't let me click the door icon, nor the discipline. In desperation, I started to try and click all the icons, and finally the medicine icon worked. She began shaking again, and pooped her weight down!
So for those of you planning on stuffing your Tama with snacks to keep it happy... be careful! :P

Shop
Just like in the Music Star, Nazotchi runs the shop. The TMGO does not feature any items at all. However, it does offer a variety of foods and home renovations.

Home remodeling not only changes the living room, but the rest of the house as well! It's an actual improvement over the Tamagotchi Plus Color, where each room would be a separate cost.

Marriage
If your Tamagotchi marries a character from the Dating Place, the partner will move in. After 24 hours, a new baby will be born, and the parents will leave the following night, leaving you to care for the child.

Age Counter Glitch
One slightly unnerving issue has come up with the TMGO: the age counter. Changing the time on the clock screen will reset the internal age counter back to where it was from the beginning of the day, and connecting the toy to TamaTown.com for an extended period of time freezes the counter. In both cases, the age number remains the same while the Tamagotchi itself continues to age.

While this doesn't affect the Tamagotchi's growth, it prevents the "Dating Place" from appearing when the Tamagotchi reaches adulthood. Typically, a Tamagotchi adult is ready to marry after 72 hours, or 3 years on the age counter. But with the age counter frozen, the Tamagotchi will have to wait longer to marry, and risk evolving into Ojitchi or Otokitchi.

OM21: Tamagotchi Tamatown Tama-Go Information

So Tamapalace.tk has recently gotten a hold of one of the new Tamatown Tama-Go toys courtesy of Bandai America. Sad to say, however, their coverage on the toy itself has been incredibly poor. I've decided to compose as much information and images as I can on the new toys, perhaps to give Tamagotchi fans out there a better sense of what the Tama-Go is and what it does before it hits the shelves this summer.

First off, the Tamatown website has been updated with the new "Swirly Sweet City" and, like the Music Star before it, there's a section in your apartment that lists all of the Tama-Go characters you've logged in as previously. The images are all in silhouette, but the owner of Tama-Yama-Wuv (along with several others) traced the shadow images back to other Tamagotchi artwork, eventually uncovering all of the characters.

From what it looks like, the Tama-Go cast will be a mix of the Tamagotchi Plus Color and Tamagotchi iD, along with some Bandai improvisation as per usual. It also seems to turn Ringotchi, ChaMametchi, Nonopotchi, and Kikitchi into adult characters, which is actually somewhat unnerving. The iD at least excluded the Senior and Special stages and called it the "Friend" stage, instead of adult, to avoid this kind of confusion..

And if you're wondering on the size of the new toy, look no further than this particular image posted by TamaPalace:

It's HUGE.

Yup, it's the same dimensions as the Tamagotchi iD! Supposedly this is because of the new figurines that get attached to the top of the device, but other than that, the HUGENESS of the toy seems rather unnecessary. The iD at least had an updated color screen, leading me to my next topic. Images once again courtesy of TamaPalace.

(Admittedly, the "Welcome!" would have looked better if it didn't have the shade of gray and instead just had white...)

Instead of just the typical black-and-white screen, we now have what Bandai America describes as a "four-gray scale display". In other words, shades of gray have been added to give a better illusion of the Tamagotchi world inside your toy. Thanks to this, you can now see the actual background of your Tamagotchi's home, hinting that like in the Plus Color, you will be able to refurnish your home (maybe rooms too?). Again like the Plus Color, you can name yourself and when your Tamagotchi calls for attention, it will say your name in a speech bubble. Up to 8 letters can be used! A big improvement over the 5 letters on previous versions.

Also, what in the world is that fifth icon supposed to be? I think it's meant for the figurines, but doesn't look anything like them to me. Unless it's supposed to be an icon of a sitting Mametchi on a little black platform? Is that what it is?

The other icons are: Health Meter, Food, Bathroom, Door (hopefully will be identical to the Plus Color and iD), Training, Medicine, Connecting, Friendlist, and Attention. Noticeably absent is the Item Trunk icon. Maybe it's been merged with the 5th icon? I'm not sure. We'll have to wait and see for somebody to either show us or scan an instruction manual.

Much like the toy itself, the box of the Tamatown Tama-Go is massive. My biggest problem with it, other with the amount of huge unused space? It goes on to describe the accessories and web site much more than it describe the actual toy and what it does. The last thing the target audience needs to think is that the toy is completely useless without the aid of a figurine and Internet connection.

Also, the box reveals the Tama-Go takes 2 AAA batteries, which are not included. Never, EVER have I seen a Tamagotchi that couldn't be played with right out of the box. Even the iD and Plus Color came with the necessary batteries. Why now exclude them?

So, is the Tama-Go worth the new $20 price tag? Are the $7 figurines worth it? There's still not enough information to tell for either. I'd like Bandai America to convince me how wonderful this new toy is and how the figurines make it even better, but all of the advertising seems to be geared toward the new face decals of the toy and the Tamatown website. And TamaPalace, who happens to own the toy, aren't answering key questions and updates on the Tama-Go are few and far between. I'm sitting on the "wait-and-see" fence; once it's released and more personal information can be shared, I'll decide if I'd like to get my hands on it.

OM21: Tamagotchi Angel - Secret Character Discovered!

So on the Japanese edition of the Tamagotchi Angel (better known as the Angelgotchi or Tenshi no Tamagotch), a secret character exists known as Lucky Unchi-Kun. To get him as a character, you have to raise the baby, but there's a chance that instead of evolving into Marutchi Angel (Maruten), it continues its life. It will go on walks and call for phrase like any normal adult Angel, until finally one day, it evolves into Lucky Unchi-Kun; a sparkling gold poop with a face. Incredibly weird, I know, but still very rare.

For a long time, it was believed that this character was removed from the US edition of the toys, but as the below video shows, this appears to not be the case!

OM21: Favorite Tamagotchi Characters?

There are so many Tamagotchi creatures that you can raise! Currently, without including special Tamagotchi versions such as Angel, Ocean, etc., there are 323 characters - some of which have never appeared on the English toys! Above, you can see many, many, many Tamagotchi characters...how many can you name?

So, Tamagotchi fans, we're curious......Do you have a favorite character? If so, who? Remember, you're not arguing over who's the best - you're describing your favorite!

OM21: New Tamagotchi "Tama-Go"

Hello, everyone! Great news for those living in North America: there's a brand new Tamagotchi toy heading our way!

This new Tamagotchi's going to be called the "Tamatown Tama-Go". From the looks of the images, it appears to be a black-and-white version of the Tamagotchi Plus Color. However, to spice things up, there's also a "Tama Figure" feature. These are little plastic toys that attach to the top of the unit, and unlock new games, items, and foods.

From the looks of things, it seems that Bandai really, REALLY wanted to bring the TMGC+C to America, but knowing it would be a huge monetary risk, they decided to get as close as they could, while introducing a new feature to keep things fresh. One screenshot even shows Belltchi in a living room with a fireplace! Personally, I've got mixed feelings for this new toy; while the figurine concept is definitely interesting, I'm not personally too keen on the shell designs, and the idea of forking over $20 for a black-and-white version of a toy I already have. But I'll most definitely be getting one to give it a fair chance. :)

Images are all property of Engadget, so click here for even more pictures!

The new toys were officially announced on February 12th, but a release date has yet to be mentioned, so stay tuned!

OM21: Tamagotchi Flashback: Mesutchi and Osutchi

Hello, everyone! With the launch of the Tamagotchi Movie in the US and the Tamagotchi iD in Japan, I thought it'd be nice to go over some of the Tamagotchi history that made the toys what they are today.

To start, I'd like to talk a bout about the Osutchi and Mesutchi toys, which were released only in Japan. These were fairly popular and, while sold separately, they were made with matching pairs in mind. They laid the basic groundwork of what would become the Tamagotchi Plus (aka Tamagotchi Connection / Tamagotchi Connexion) nearly 7 years later. Like the modern toys, they had 10 icons and could mate and produce offspring, leading into more generations.

The Osutchi was the "Male" egg and the Mesutchi was the "Female". The baby and child characters were the same for both genders, but teen and adult characters had many differences to make them stand apart, yet resemble a "couple". There were four groups of characters (TMP1, 2, 3, and 4), and each group had their own unique characters and foods. There were also three "neglect" characters: Debutchi, a character so fat that he filled the whole screen; Sutebotchi, the male neglect character who can never fall in love; and Tsuketchi, the female version of Sutebotchi.

The game (shown in the video above) was a very basic version of the "Flag" game, which would later appear on the V3 and V4. The toys did not have any money involved, but did require discipline and keeping weight low. These toys were definitely not as forgiving as modern Tamagotchi toys.

Also, a prime difference between these and the modern Tamagotchi was how they connect. The Osu/Mesu could only connect when it was time to marry, and used a metal port instead of the modern Infrared port. Also, the marriage and birth process was far more detailed and exciting than the modern process. I'll get a video up as soon as I can.

If you'd like to see the Osutchi and Mesutchi characters, look down below! This was the very first growth chart I've ever made. Alternatively, you can check out Binary's chart on Tama-Zone which includes character artwork and updated names.

OM21: Tamagotchi: The Movie

Are you ready for Tamagotchi's big venture into the world of anime motion pictures?

Here, I'm going to tell you all about the Tamagotchi movie, what it's about, and when you can get to see it.

Japanese Release
The film was first produced in Japan as Eiga De Tojo-Tamagotchi: Dokidoki! Uchuu no Maigotchi!? (Appearing on Film - Tamagotchi: Lost Child in Space!?). Advertising and promotions for the film started in early July 2007, including promoting the newest character ChaMametchi (who would not long after appear on the Family pets).

On December 15th, 2007, the film hit theaters. It opened at #3 in the box office, and it received very positive reviews. It was released next summer onto DVD, just as the sequel had been announced.

The Story
On Tamagotchi planet, Mametchi, an illustrious inventor, has just finished his new creation - a Forwarding Machine. But on its first trial run, the mischievous Kuchipatchi somehow manages to throw the machine's aim off course, which results in a child from Earth, Tanpopo, being transported to the Tamagotchi Planet. While the little girl is thrilled to see her favourite Tamagotchis in person, she soon realizes that she can't get home. Mametchi's mom and dad assure her that they will be able to invent a rocket which will take her back to the exact time she left and so, relieved, Tanpopo manages to enjoy the time she will spend living with Mametchi on Tamagotchi Planet until she can return home. But as a series of strange events threaten the planet, Tanpopo and her friends find themselves responsible for much more than her return to Earth...

Where Can I See It?
Fortunately, Bandai Entertainment, the branch of Bandai America that handles anime licensing, dubbing, and distribution, picked up the rights for the film. However, the dates for the film's DVD release worldwide have varied:

  • Asian / Oceania / Australia region: The film was released June 3rd, 2009. Go out and grab a copy!
  • United Kingdom (UK): The film will be available on September 14th, 2009. Click here to preorder your copy!
  • United States of America (USA): Bandai revealed in a birthday letter to the Tamagotchi forum TamaTalk that the film will be available in Spring 2010.

Some clips from the film are available now on YouTube for your viewing pleasure!

OM21: My New Tamagotchi Plus Color!

So I finally went out and bought one on eBay! Got a pretty good deal on it, $61 with free shipping. Keep your eyes pealed, as the prices of the Plus Color are gradually going down!

I started it last Monday, almost an hour after it arrived in the mail. It started off as the new male baby Kinotchi, who looks like a little blue mushroom with a face. He evolved into Kuribotchi, who you may know from the Tamagotchi Music Star (He also appears on the V2, V4.5, Keitai, and Akai).

After that, he became Kikitchi, who first appeared on the Tamagotchi Connection V5 Celebrity, and then returned for the Tamagotchi Music Star. Finally, he became Kuchipatchi, who we all know and love.

Now, I know the TMGC+C was supposed to be a technical revolution within the Tamagotchi franchise, but I had no idea it'd be this much fun!

There are three games built into it, and they're more than enough to keep me entertained. Winning the games rewards you with $100G, and prices for items range from 150G to 3900G. There are very few items this time around, but they each do their own cute things. Also, there are special character-specific items: only certain characters can use them. For example, KuroMametchi and Nemutchi are the only two characters that can use the Guitar item.

Kuchipatchi and Kikitchi share the Hero Set item. Kikitchi temporarily transforms into some sort of Egyptian warrior, but Kuchipatchi transforms into the super hero PatchiMan! For him, it works like a costume item; he can run around as PatchiMan as long as he likes until I use the Hero Set again.

Another cute easter egg is when Kuchipatchi (or PatchiMan) drinks the Orange Juice item three times, he turns orange! It wears away when they wake up, or if you use the Hero Set item. Shimashimatchi has a similar trick: feed him enough watermellons and he turns green!

Here's a quick video I've made of him playing around:

I'll have some more videos up as soon as I can. :)

OM21: Tamagotchi Music City Tips, Part 3: Weekly Competitions

OsuMesu21 here, with tips on how to be the number one star in Music City! Since Music City is one of the biggest things to happen to Tamagotchi, I thought it'd be great to help other users make the most of the newest Tamagotchi experience.

Today, we'll be discussing one of the most exciting aspects of Music City: The weekly competitions!

What is it?
Every week, Tamagotchi Music City holds a musical competition to see which band is the best, both in music and in popularity. There are plenty of prizes too!

How do I sign up? When does it take place?
Registration for the competitions is available every week, from Monday to Friday. The competition game will be available to play from Saturday to Sunday.

To register, visit the Concert Hall in Downtown, and head over to the Registration desk, where you'll see Rosetchi.

Once you've talked to her and registered, you will receive a letter in your inbox with the competition information.

What do I need to be allowed to register?
All you need to do is be logged in as any character and have a CD featured. That's it!

How do I play the game?
First, you must wait until Saturday for the game to be available! When the competition has officially begun, you will see the two big doors in the Concert Hall open.

Once you walk through the doors, it will show you this:

There are two ways to start the game: one with flashing animations in the background, and one without. The second option's typically for users with slower computers.

After clicking Start, it will show you a little intro, and then present you with your judges. Whichever judges you get will determine how difficult the game will be.

The "Gotchi King Family" (Gotchi King, Gotchi Queen, and Princess Tamakoko) and the "Music Star Judges" (Don Big Boss Gotchi, Bill, and Glasuntchi), for example, are the "toughest", as their patterns go all over the screen.

The "Teachers" (Mr. Turtlepedia, Principal Mimizu, and both male and female Puchioyatchi) and the "Reporters" (Reportchi, Guidetchi, and Depagatchi) are the easiest, with patterns only coming from the left and right side of the screeen.

And for moderate difficulty, meaning patterns from all sides but in smaller groups, the judges are the "Paparazzi" (male and female Scooptchi, and female Paparatchi), and the "Celebrities" (Teitokutchi, Tonotchi, and Elizabethtchi).

Of all of these, the Gotchi King Family will give you the highest possible score - the maximum possible combo is 59, giving a score of 6780!

The game starts off looking like this:

On the top left is your score meter. To the bottom right is the judges. In the top right is the clock, and on the bottom left is the "Excitement Meter". In the background, your featured CD will play corresponding with the time.

In the center, you have four directional buttons and long bars. Small dots will appear sliding along those bars and hit the arrows, and when they do, the arrow will change color - from yellow to pink. Your objective is to hit these buttons once they change colors. You may hit them either by pressing the corresponding directional key on your keyboard, or by clicking on the arrow with your mouse.

If you hit the arrow at just the right moment, you will get "GREAT" from the judges. This starts off a combo, and if you keep it going, your score will skyrocket. With each hit in a combo, the Excitement Meter will start to fill up. Once it's filled, the stage will light up, and your score will go much higher!

Once the game is over, the judges will show you your final score and voice their opinion on your performance. Afterward, you can leave or do whatever you like, or head back in and try the game again for a better score. Remember, try to get a high score on both Saturday and Sunday to insure being on the top 30!

What about voting?
This part is much more difficult than the game itself! Once you're in the competition, fans can vote for their favorite band. To vote for a band, talk to Monsieur Kikipapa, who stands right next to Rosetchi at the desk.

(I've blocked out other user's names for privacy reasons.)

You will be given a list of some of the bands in the current competition. You can scroll through the list by holding your mouse over the up or down directional arrows, and if you want to see more bands, press the "Reload" button on the bottom of the list, and new bands will appear.

When you want to check out a band, just click on them. You will be shown that band, plus an opposing band. You'll be able to see how many votes each band has had, and you can listen to their featured CD. From there, you can choose to vote for one of them, or exit and look for other bands.

You can vote for bands starting on Saturday, and ending on Thursday. (although, you can vote on Friday too, but it's completely pointless...)

Is there anything else that influences my score?
Yes, there is! How many users visit your apartment and listen to your CD have an impact on your final score. After you compete, on the days leading up to Friday, you should do your best to become well-known in the Tamagotchi Music City community. People visiting your room and listening to your music have just as much influence on your score as actually voting!

So what happens on Friday?
Once the clock strikes midnight and the competition has finished, you will receive a letter in your inbox telling you how you placed in the competition. Also, once you've finished reading it, your trophy (if you earned one) will appear in your item inventory. Head over to the Concert Hall and talk to Rosetchi to receive your cash prize.

The third, second, and first place winners will also be featured in Gotchi Records!

Also, to see more results, visit the Concert Hall and check out the machine called "Result". It will tell you who placed first through tenth place. There's also a "Special" category, but I don't know what it means...

And one final note. In your apartment, hanging from the top right of your room, is a monitor wearing a crown. If you click on it, it'll show your competition history: which competitions you participated in, who was in your band, and what place you've earned. You can view other people's results by visiting their apartment and clicking on theirs.

Please vote for me! This week, I'm working hard to place first, so please vote for me, and come check out my apartment!

OM21: Tamagotchi Wikia Needs Help!

As you may or may not know, there's a whole Wiki dedicated to Tamagotchi, known as Tamagotchi Wikia.

A big problem we've been having with TW is massive amounts of spam and useless articles/edits. So I'm making a shout-out to all Tamagotchi fans out there to help us with making Tamagotchi Wikia a better Wiki for everybody!

What needs to be done is:

  • Create more character articles with information. A character's article should include information on its name and personality, what releases or versions the Tamagotchi has been in, official Bandai artwork of the character, and generally important things. For example, editing Masktchi's page to say "omg she luvs Gozarutchi" isn't very helpful, credible, or necessary.
  • Each article about Tamagotchi releases should include info on special features, release dates, official images, and a list of all characters featured.
  • Also, articles that are pointless or useless should either be expanded to be a credible and helpful article, or otherwise deleted. If you find an article and you're not sure how you can expand it further, put the code {{stub}} at the bottom of the article.
Currently, Tamagotchi fans all over the world are working to make this Wiki a better place, so join in and be helpful!

OM21: New Tamagotchi Plus Color This Fall!

Thanks to Binary and Tarokaja from Tama-Zone for the heads-up!

It seems that Japan is getting a new Tamagotchi Plus Color model this August. The updated toy, named the "Tamagotchi Plus Color: Hexagontchi" will be the same as the original Plus Color, but with added features. It's based off the FujiTV game show "Quiz Hexagon".

After doing certain actions (unknown what these actions are), a character called Shinsukegotchi will appear and ask you a quiz question. There are over 100 different possible questions, and answering correctly will reward your character with "Smart Points".

Like the "EXMOtchi" limited edition, the Hexagontchi will be available in red and white. Currently, there are no pictures available, but here are the Amazon Japan links:

OM21: Tamagotchi EnWarehouse

I just wanted to let everybody know about this wonderful little program from Tamatalk and Tama-Zone's Binary: the Tamagotchi EnWarehouse!

TO DOWNLOAD THE CURRENT EDITION OF ENWAREHOUSE, PLEASE CLICK HERE.

A bit of history...several years ago, Binary published a cheat for the Entama. It consisted of using the login number from your Tamagotchi to generate a logout password for anything you'd like. To see the original topic, click here.

Binary would later put the formula into a program, known today as the EnWarehouse.

The current version (download link at the top of the page) not only provides cheating for Entama, but also for the UraTama, Hanerutchi2, both TamaSchool versions, and all 4 of the "Family" pets (V5, V5.5 / Celebrity, Famitama, and Royal).

It works very easily; you type in the login code, select the item you want to receive, and type the resulting number onto your toy.

I'm not sure if there's a Music Star update coming to it...or any of the English toys, for that matter, because their programming is so different compared to the Japanese models.

On another note, this won't run on Mac computers. For all you Apple people out there, sorry!

OM21: Tamagotchi Music City in Spanish!

Bandai has just updated Tamagotchi Music City to include a complete Spanish edition!

¡Bandai acaba de poner al día el " Tamagotchi Music City" para incluir una edición española completa!

Tamagotchi Music City Español

The Spanish edition is great because it destroys language barriers. Anybody with a Tamagotchi Music Star can use Music City, and the text is limited to speech bubbles with pre-added text. Since both the Spanish and English editions run on the same server, a person may use it in Spanish and their speech will appear in English on the other user's computer!

I can't wait to see if Tamagotchi Music City gets more languages in the future. :)
